Regarding governments expenses society always has been divided on opinion. I believe that government should spend more money to solve the basic problems of society on Earth. Government should spend more money in research for fatal diseases like Cancer and AIDS. Because of these diseases millions of people die every year through out the world. Health is more important than any thing for all human being. Rather than spending more money on space technology government should spend more money in the research field of fatal diseases, so that all people in the society can get good health. There are billions of poor people in the world, who don’t have food, cloth, education etc. In their life they have nothing for good. If government can spend money for those people, it will help a lot to make a good healthy society on Earth; other than spending more money on space technology. Space technology is also important for us. But solving the problem of society on this Earth is more important. What do you people think?

Society definitely. There is so much that could be done with that kind of money. The tax base would greatly improve also. Our priorities must be called into question when so many are in need. Being the richest nation (?) we would be in better shape if more of our citizens were better off and not quite so many being needy. Thanks for asking this, will be interesting to see how others think.

Can I add the choice of Education. I think knowledge is power. So education is also power and educating people will in essence help them to better be able to provide for themselves. So there will be less homeless, less in the welfare line and less in food kitchen lines. Helping them to have jobs will give them back their self respect that being homeless, being on welfare and being forced to eat in food kitchens take away.

I agree with what you have said about "Education". However, it is heavily funded on a local basis in this country. Thus, it does not need as much federal funding as other 'national' issues.

Definitely Anne you can add the choice of Education. I just forgot to add that. I also strongly believe that education is a most important thing for our society.

I think they should be spending more time and money on solving the problem of the Greenhouse Effect. We have been researching for year on fatal diseases and it continues. I am not saying that we should stop. But what I am saying is that the government should be spending more time on getting the pollution and Greenhouse Effect under control. We can try to feed, educate, clothe, and cure the people of the world. But in the end, if the world is falling apart and killing us off because we didn't take care of it, then our battle to help society in this other ways is futile.

Exactly, I also want to say that don't stop the research work on space technology, but we hsould not spend so much money and time. Because we have other important things to tkae care in our soiety.

If every government stopped buying and paying for military items for just one month .. pretty much all of the worlds poverty could be sorted out .. trouble is it's got to be every single country agreeing to stop paying for military hardware .. or the last country not in the agreement would think they could take over .. hahah Sorry .. back to the topic .. yes, it would be great if all the money could for once go towards solving countries social problems .. trouble is I doubt it will ever happen ...

Yes , sometimes it seems like a big waste of money when there are people unable to get proper food, housing, education, health care, etc.. there should be more attention to immediate needs than space technology ..

they should spend the money on me, or on all of us, we make the econimies going which out us, there wouldnt be a government there wouldnt be anything for them to tax on, so they should spend the money on people, like give us money back at the end of each year like couple thousand, it would be nice

Correct you are to some extent. However, please go through the following list: Space research is also necesary because: 1)We need to be at space to understand the earth better 2)There are other fast moving matters that may enter the earth and destroy the things here, we need to develop technology to prevent that 3)World population is increasing very fast, we need to find out more space for the people in the coming days (say after 1000 years) 4)You cannot prevent people from searching new things What do you feel now?

I agree with but it is also important to maintane space technology for the future of our childred. We are quickly entering the global warming in the world just as they warned us. But unfortunatly it is coming much quicker then estamated. So therefore if its not already too late we must prefare for the worst.

Neither. Government should not spend more money, period. Then they will have to raise taxes to spend on more government programs. This country (US) did not become an economic power by government spending. Free enterprise has created the wealth we enjoy. Government's cannot create wealth, only take it away and spend it on useless programs. With all the government spending in the big cities, why are they still run down and suffering? The space race and improving health should be a free enterprise undertaking. You say a lot of people are sick, at least in this country it is because of lifestyles in many cases. The key is to live healthier lives and then disease becomes less of a factor The poorer nations do not have the wealth to help their citizens. Look at the Middle East. Other than oil, they have not developed into economic powers and have been around a lot longer than the US. They prefer to waste resources fighting each other over the last 1,000 years. Look at Russia. The communist government, which is a socialist government, couldn't provide for all its people. There was little free enterprise and little wealth created. It is different now, but Russia is still going through growing pains as it tries to become a freer country. Research and job creation is best done by free enterprise. Creating jobs creates more wealth over time. The way to help the poor, is for private enterprise to bring new business and job creation into an area. Governments do not create anything of value. Meaning that government spending will never make people self-sufficient. I, for one, do not want to pay more taxes to be squandered by government.

I think we should invest in Medicare. I am 28 years old and when I get to retirement age I'm afaid there won't be any left for my generation.

Society and people should always be the priority! There are so many things that could be improved for people, and yet governments spend billions on other things while society goes without. Healthcare, food, good jobs--these things all need that money and our society would be greatly improved if that were the focus

Yes. I fully agree with you that the government should give priority to the people's problems like Health, Education etc. I feel governments are aware of it & are appropriately apportioning the funds suitably.

i agree with u up to some extent.but space technology is not as simple as fighting with aliens or a tour to moon. its some thing different. it has vast meaning. pl understand without improving space technology, we cant improve our communication satellites.without internet we cant live i think. space research helps in finding new minerals and even alternate energy resources .with advancement in space research , if there comes a threat to life on earth our generations can live peacefully in a strange planet i hope. its very very essential like all the things u mentioned.
