shopping help please!!!

I've been married for a few years now and still can't seem to grocery shop very well. I'm not horrible at it but I am not good at it either. How do you shop. I used to go to my friends houses when I was younger and there cupboards were always filled with different things and could always make something. I am not saying i dont have food in my house but I just don't feel comfortable about my shopping. How do you shop? I try list but I always forget to many things.Its a weird post but im being honest. I suck at grocery shopping.

I have to make a menu of meals. I then make a list from that. So I may have a menu list of speghetti, chow mein, etc. Then I start my groc list. If I'm having speghetti do i have noodles, speghetti sauce, etc. If I don't have it, it goes on the list. Hope that makes sense and helps.
