Well, I Did It....

For the time being, I have changed my avatar completely. A lot of people replied to my discussion on avatars and changing them and told me my former avatar was intimidating and actually made them nervous to talk to me or respond to my discussions. So I'm doing a little experiment and for the next couple of days I have a completely different and more 'friendly' looking avatar. I'm curious to see if my avatar really does have that much of an influence over how people see me.

There are no scenes of Naomi smiling, so I went with my next favorite female character that I have some connection with!

We could make out if we were in the same anime. And none of use would die. Heh.

This may sound like a dumb question, but which anime is your favorite character from? I could do a search to possibly find one where she is smiling, although if you say she doesn't, then I may not find one. Also I may want to watch the anime. What's it about? By the way, I like this avatar just as much as I liked the other one.

Well, I guess an avatar really has effects on its viewers. A good image will really help you get more response.

I must tell you honestly, I liked the other one better. I think there was a certain strength in the face that struck me. THis one seems almost sad. Yes, I know I'm one to talk with the generic avatar. But you asked. I love your attitude and your frankness. The old avatar projected it. This one just doesn't.

See, I don't respond to avatars, that is like judging a book by it's cover. I read some of your questions and answers and that is how I judged you. I really did not notice that you had changed your avatar.

Someone's avatar doesn't really affect whether or not I respond to their discussions. I think that they are a fun way for people to convey their personalities. It's obvious that you are a person who enjoys anime, specifically the character of Naomi. I could be wrong, but that makes me think that you are a creative person with a good imagination and a love of art. I have changed my avatar a handful of times thus far because I like variety and not having to look at the same image day after day.

changing the avatar doesnt make a change. change your bad characters to a good character that is the real change in your life.

Interesting experiment in the power of an avatar's influence over user's perceptions of the person behind it. Please do let us know how it turns out! Perhaps you will see an increase in replies, or your rating go up as this one seems friendlier? Granted like a few others here I did like the old one .. :)

I liked your other avatar. I like this one to. Neither one really influences my decision on whether or not to talk to you...or anyone else....I like both.

That's funny, I almost passed by your discussion because I didn't recognize the avitar...lol I liked your old avitar much better. I didn't find it at all intimidating. Do let us know the outcome of your experiment. I'll be anxiously awaiting the results. I'm glad you will be switching back, I kind of liked the old one. I always thought it was fitting for you..I don't know why? But from the first time I saw it I was intrigued by it. Yours was one of the first profiles I looked at when I first joined. I always read your discussions, I just don't reply to them all. It is quite an interesting experiment...keep up the great work. Mari

i don't think that can influence people by talking with you. Don't change it, if you like the other one, still it and choose it

Because I'm not one of those folks who pays attention to avatars unless they are photos of really attractive people (not that I'm shallow or anything, but if avatars are drawings, cartoon characters, or other icons, I don't pay them any heed), I'd have to say that your avatar change doesn't influence how I personally see you.

You'd be amazed at the number of people sending me private messages to tell me that my avatar scares them, and that that usually are afraid to answer my discussions because of it. ;)

I hate to join on the bandwagon, but I really did like the other image better. I like this one too, but I found the other one somewhat haunting. Then again, I tend to like things that are a bit dark. whichever you prefer, I think is ok. I think you need to have fun with things like this.

I don't know what was your last avatar, but the new avatar looks nice. I don't care how other members avatars looks, as long as they are good people.
