Psoriasis and Some Tried Methods To Cooping With It...

I have had psoriasis since I was 12 years old. For many it really is a pain to keep under control, since so much can effect it from your eating habits to stress levels. These are a few methods I have used to ease such flare ups so I can save a little money from running to the doctor every time. I hope that it can help others with this condition. 1. If you are one that showers instead of sitting in the bath tub try taking a bath every other day and just soak for a bit. With a pumice stone ever so gently scrub the effected areas (just enough to get the top layer of dead skin off, don't scrub to much otherwise you can cause it to bleed, you don't want this to happen otherwise it could cause the area to flare). 2. Pat yourself dry, but not to the point where your skin will dry instantly. 3. Apply a small amount of baby oil to effected areas rubbing in thoroughly.(Don't use to much baby oil otherwise you'll feel really greasy afterwards) Than apply whatever brand of lotion you use. I use this method daily and it has helped keep the effected areas moisturized and stopped them from drying out to the point of it cracking and becoming uncomfortable. You will find also that some of the effected areas will start to heal and disappear if you follow this routine religiously. I hope this can help those of you out there that are dealing with this skin condition.

I am so glad to see other people spreading the word about Psoriasis. I have suffered with it for almost 20 years now and have never been totally clear. I luck out with the cost of my medicine though in that I work for a hospital and rx's are cheaper. I still have to visit the Dr. once a month to follow me on the medicine I am currently one, but right now I am broke out some. I have tried all the things you hear about to see if it would be the right thing to help me from furniture polish, yes that's right, furniture polish, to a flower mixture. I am glad to see you have found something that works for you. I keep hoping and praying for a cure for this because people just do not realize the pain involved with it when you are flared, and what you have to go through to "cover it up" when you go out in public. I wish you well with yours.....

Well this is the first time I have heard about using furniture polish to help with psoriasis, and don't think I will be trying it anytime soon either..lol I know what you mean about never really being totally clear of it, cause just when I think I have mine under control it flares back up on me. That's what I get for thinking eh? It has took a lot of building up my confidence to talk about my skin condition because I feel like I am an alien. I know others have it as well, but the years of being stared at and even being treated like I was contagious by the general public. And covering it up was always the issue. Now I just don't give a rats behind. Yes I have psoriasis, but that doesn't make the person. So I have built up my confidence level high enough where I am wearing shorts and short sleeved shirts out in public, and one doesn't know others are starring at you unless you actually look at them so I just carry on with what I am doing and don't even look at others while I am out in public. Thanks for the reply. I wish you will with yours as well. :)

That is some good info that I can pass on. I know several folks with psorasis. It really seems to be a bother and I empathize for the folks affected.

Oh believe me it is a big bothersome thing. I have lived with it for many years now and have spent a lot of money trying to keep it under control. Throughout that time I have experimented with many things just to cut the costs of doctor bills and with most of the medicines they have for it, having psoriasis is a costly thing to take care of. With the above mentioned method it has cut my doctors visits in half and has saved me a lot of money, because lotion and baby oil is a lot cheaper than prescribed psoriasis medications. Thanks for replying and for sending this info to others. :) I hope it helps them
