Does anyone have a recipe for a great chicken and dumpling soup. I cook a lot but have no experience with soup or dumplings. Everyone tell me how easy both are, but I'm afraid to try this and don't have any recipes. Any suggestions out there?

Well I've never made chicken soup but I do know how to make dumplings. Just made some for beef stew yesterday :) Ingredients: 2 cups all purpose flour 3 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 teaspoons dried parsley 1/4 cup shortening or lard 1 cup water Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and parsley in a bowl. Then add your shortening and using two knives cut the shortening into the flour in a scissor fashion until the flour is all corn meal texture or you can't really see the shortening. Then mix the milk in with a fork but don't over mix, just make sure everything is all wet. Now go to your soup or stew. Make sure the soup is boiling and that you can see the vegitables/meat in the soup near the top. Drop the batter in spoonfuls on top of the soup elements. Cook for 10 minutes uncovered and then for 10 minutes covered. Then it's done. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the recipe. Hopefully I'll get quite a few suggestions and I plan on trying as many as possible. I'll definately get back to everyone after my experiments to let you all know how they turned out and which is the household favorite. Thanks again.

i've got something here... filipino style... you'll need: 3/4kg chickenn wings (12pc)each cut into 2 4 cloves garlic(crushed) 6pc shallots 2 pc meduim potatoees cut into chunks 1/4 cup mushrooms soaked in water and sliced 1 can (227g) tomato sauce 1 stalk leek, sliced diagonally here' how: 1. saute garlic, shallots and chicken wings. cook for 10 mins. add3/4 cup water, mushrooms, potato, 1/3 tsp salt(if iodized, if not 1 tsp rock salt). simmer for 7 minutes. 2 add tomato sauce. cook for another 15 minutes and add leeks... this is so easy and so tasty... try it...

ive been trying to perfect my dumpling recipe for years but i hate to say that bisquick is just as good as from scratch. the secret is to add the dumplings to a boiling pot and cover immediately and dont peek while they cook!!
