How do you keep an older dog healthy ( 17 years) and living longer? Do you put your dog on a diet, walk it more or less, anything.

if u have a dog thats more than 12 years that means that its old and u have to treat it exactly like u treat a old human being..... dont walk it too much....if u stay in an independant house thats great.... but if u stay in an apartment walk take him only around ur apartment for around 4 to 5 mins till he does his stuff and bring him back home..... in old age they too dont really have control over their toilet so u have to be careful at times.... dont leave the dog without taking him out to pee for too long a time.... and u have to give him a cozy corner in the house that he likes and put some warm bedding and blanket for him with the water bowl close by...not too much out of his reach.... u have to be careful with his food too cos at that age most of their teeth wud have been fallen off so u have to give food which is soft and easily digestible...mostly vegetables and cereals....not too much of meat.....a ll the best and hope this helps
