Cruel man

My neighbour has a Golden Retriever that is very friendly and loyal.One day the owner called him to have his food,It did'nt turn up as it was unwell...The owner was agitated and started hitting it with his belt.Do you think such cruelty towards pets is common if so what has to be done.

Unfortunatly cruelty like that and much worse happen all the time, everywhere in the world.
You should report him to your local ASPCA or Humane Society!!
it might just save the dogs life!

Do you have any shelters for animals in your area? If you do not and no one can get the dog away from him legally, then maybe you know someone who would want the dog and can get it away from him. That is terrible that the poor dog is being abused like that. If you didn't live so far away I would go get the dog myself and save it. What a big man he is to beat on a helpless animal. I wonder how he would feel if someone did that to him.

yes i am afraid it is very common. some people just can't handle their anger and frustrations well that they bring it on their kids and pets. other pets may not be subjected to such cruelty but they also suffer from neglect, from lack of proper care and attention. it puzzles me why would these kind of people even think of owning a pet when they can't even spend time with them. it's so sad actually that more and more people have become irresponsible owners. i hope more laws will be placed in effect to protect the animals from cruelty and neglect.

They need to give animals more rights. This is terrible and happens way too often. Sure there are some places that criminally one can be held liable for his/her actions toward a pet but it is rediculous how light the punishments are. I look at the cases where animals have been burned alive and horrible things like that and people get probation and community service. I think dogs and other animals should be given the same legal rights as humans when it comes to cruelty and neglect.

this prson should be reported to the animal crulity,nobody should treat and animal like that,what would he do to a person

did you call the rspca or some sort of law officer to deal with this.. if not why not?
