I prefer watching anime in the original Japanese, with english subtitles. it seems more authentic. the essence of the characters, especially the villains is lost with englich voice overs. what do you think

Subs are definitely the way to go. If you watch with English dubs, the characters lose their character and you just feel very annoyed when they talk.

dub vs. sub is the one greatest argument in all anime forums. personally i pick subs, and it has to be chinese subs. firstly because english dubs uses the same people every time, you can tell, all the main girl characters of every anime, no matter what type they are, all sound the same, and rather emotionless. there really is no way to duplicate the cutishness of jap girls in any other language. as to why i prefer chinese subs, well... i'm chinese of coz, but even though my english is better than chinese, i want chinese subs coz chinese matches the jap language more closely and i get a lot more of the jokes and sayings this way. but i also understand why someone would like dubs, i mean, i have friends who can't read and watch at the same time, so they really can't do without dubs. me, well, i'm born in hk, where they sub half the things that goes onto regular tv, so i'm used to subs
