self-year in China

I am unsure if it is correct to name it as self-year in English, but it indeed exists in Chinese. For example, if you were born in year 1982, and year 1994, 2006 & 2018 are your self-years, which is 12 years difference. It was said someone wl be very lucky in his self-year, and some others wl be very unlucky... It was my self-year last year, almost all the things i could not imagine out was happened. I never believe these kind of things before, but now i have to... Did you have the same experience, just figure out when was your self-year, and what was happening....
