I am not a racist or anything I am just curious as to what others think!!

I want to know what you all think about the situation. I was born here and I am amazed aobut how everyone makes a big deal about people being racist and other things for example...black people saying they are African American,...why do you say that? what is the big deal? Were you born here or in Africa? My ancestors were born in Ireland and I dont call myself Irish American..I am American...and proud of it.why cant you be? just curious..remember I am not racial by any means just something I want to know...and another thing...for those of you who dont speak english very well...learn the language..if i was in your country...you would want me to learn yours...am I right.. your thoughts (dont want to start a war).just curious as to see what others think!! have a great day!

Wow, I think this discussion will indeed start a war, lol. My own personal opinion is what difference does it make if someone wants to call themselves African American? What does it matter? And as for learning the language, I don't think it's the easiest thing to do. I spent many years attempting to learn French and have not been able to conquer it. English is supposedly one of the hardest languages to learn. Why not try and help them learn by having a conversation with them ? Just my own thoughts :)
