Hi foxxy26, I am always sceptical when I see questions about the internet replacing things. I was chatting yesterday about it replacing shops which I didn't think it would because there will always be people that dont' have the net etc. and need to use a shop. But, replace libraries is interesting one. Libraries are basically mini-internets in that you can use them for research, but then it's a lot easier to search for things on the internet. If access to offial websites was cheap eg. Encylopedia websites and they had an authoritative source, then yeah I think in some instances Libraries could be replaced. But Libraries are a place for sharing, how would people access all of the fiction books, would they all have to be scanned in or become e-books or something? Libraries in the UK are mostly publicly funded through tax which makes them easy and accessable to everyone on every income. The internet isn't really like that at the moment, since you need a PC and connection which can be expensive even now.

May be it will take another decade or so to think of such a situation. Right now not all the people will be able to have interenet connection due to cost factor. Itis not easy to replace the print media by the electronic media.

for me the internet has already replaced the library. When I want to know something I just turn on my computer. I can find what I want, and information on the internet is not limited. I don't remember the last time I went to the library.

No i do not think that the internet will replace the libraries. There are still a lot of people that use the libraries. Some people dont have the internet and still have to go to the libraries for information.

I think so. I can't remember the last time I went to a library to get a book. Although, I have gone to the library to use the internet... haha

I am not sure it will replace libraries but I see a time where the internet and television may merge...at least in some form. I may be wrong but it seems to me that people who love to read do not spend nearly as much time on the internet as someone who doesn't. So even though books may become available I doubt it will ever come to a point the library will be replaced. It is however a great place to find information quickly and I do thing that will grow. But that is a long way from replacing whole books.

Yes, surely it`ll because due to the growing technology day-to-day it`ll surely replace it. because nowaday no one tries to go to the library and search for it when they`ve got internet which provides search engines to find the data more relevantly & fast. so one can prefer internet over library. & technology is growing. thx. Good day!

No. i don't htink so. The library is still more reliable than the internet. You can get more results in the library and you can always make sure that is reliable unlike in the net.
