I'm not sure if my daughter has ADHD. It is hereditary from her dad, and sometimes it seems that she can't control the things she does. What are the symptoms?

I would think that at this age she is too young to be diagnosed and it should only be done by a specialist who has experience in dealing with this disorder. At her age she will naturally be very active and have a poor attention span - it is part of the age she is and she might improve in time. If you have any concerns see if there is a support group near you where you can get advice and support from other parents in the same situation. Also arrange for her to see a good Doctor who might be able to assist but at this time I think you should NOT be considering any sort of medication for her as she is too young. Good luck to the family. :)

I think it would be hard to diagnos a three year old with ADHD. Most three year olds can't control themselves all the time, they have a tendency to be very active at that age and little things can get them hyper. My son wasn't diagnosed until he went to preschool and then it was really obvious. He just couldn't function in that setting with all those other children. He's very bright, but he couldn't sit still. He would be on the table, under it, if they gave him something to color, he would krinkle it up and throw it, if he was told to clean up and wasn't ready, he would throw a fit, if they put him it time out he would sit there and kick the wall. He just couldn't control his emotions. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but he just couldn't control himself.

My nephew have ADHD. He is 8 years old. His doctors told my sister in law that they cant not diagnosis children until they goes to the first grade. You might want to check with your daughter's doctors. I heard before that AHDH can be hereditary but Im not sure. It best to get answers from doctors.
