Too many parents live through their children. The will go to all kinds o lengths to make their child appear to be gifted by hiring tutors and making sure all the child's activities have some kind of academic value. I think that pushing a child to always be the best or do the best is a a disaster waiting to happen. The child can't keep itup forever. They will burn out and give up when they eralize that there will always be someone better at something than they are. Do you think its i unhealthy to push a child to be the best or doyou think one should allow the child to learn a their own pace?

I think pushing a child to follow in your footsteps or to aspire be something you wanted to be yourself is plain selfish. It is better to watch and see what your child naturally has a gift for or what they are interested in then your can give them encouragement but not to push it can backfire.
