Pete Docherty, who cares?

Pete Docherty is on the front of a few papers again today, not 100% sure as I couldn't be bothered reading another story about him but looks from the pictures like another drug scandal. My question, who cares? His fans are so diehard they don't mind him doing it and get on the defensive if you criticise him. People who aren't fans, why should it matter to them what a random singer does? So why does it keep making headline news?!
