my hubby changed jobs recently and we were unable to carry over our insurance. His new company offers insurance but only after 90 days. So this leaves us without coverage for a little while. And boy is this awful!! Medicine is out of this world expensive not to mention the price of visiting a doctor for just a 15 minute visit. Hope this passes fast.

We have insurance now, but our deductables and co-pays are expensive. We were without insurance for a time, and I was surprised at how willing docs and hospitals were willing to reduce costs when they found out we didn't have insurance. One time, (when they thought we were on the same policy) they told us the cost would be $190 for a doc visit and some tests my daughter had. When they found out we didn't have insurance, they reduced it to $50!! Not so true anymore though, my daughter doesn't have insurance, and her costs are through the roof!! I hope it all works out for you, and that your 90 days are doctor free! Best of luck to you!! :-)

I have been without coverage from when I turned 23 years old. I ended up in the hospital for emergency surgury for a hernia, & I've just got it all paid up. The surgury was back in late 2001. That was also with a bit of financial assistance from various sources. While it was not much compared to the total bills, it did help. It goes to show how expensive it is without medical coverage. At the same time, the lowest prices for medical coverage is beyond my reach.

The only reasion I have insurance is because I am a student and my mother can have me on hers. When I wasn't in school and was working I didn't have insurance and could not afford it on my part time wages if I did have the option.

Yes ofcourse we have it. My dad has preferred to have this insurence because you never knows that what you are going to face next. You don't know that which problem is at the point of your nose. So now in these days specially it is neccessary to have health insurence so that if any any kind of expensive cure is needed, it is possible for everyone.

I have insurance, but my employer recently reduced our coverage. I just got a bill for $300 for a CT scan. That's my share after what the insurance paid. The scan took about a minute and a half and required just one hospital employee and it costs $900. I know the equipment is expensive, but that is crazy! I have no idea how the heck I'm gonna pay that bill at the moment... lol

I haven't had health ins. for years. Its tough too, not being able to afford to go to the doc. I am at a point in my life that I need health care. Maybe our next President will do something about national Health care for the citizens of the United States. We take care of the world, its time to take care of our own citizens. There are other countries that take care of their own citizens, we should be able to do it too.

I have insurance and I think it is the most costly worry we in the USA have. Next to our retirement

We have been through that too. It was horrible to think of the things that could happen while we didn't have insurance. I seemed to be always thinking about it. During that time, my partner had to crawl on the roof to clean out the gutters from all the leaves. I stood there saying that he better not fall because if he breaks an arm, leg, or neck...we were screwed (can I say that here?) I worried about him getting in a car accident. I worried that something would happen. But...we ended up ok. Now, I just have to find time and face my fear of going to the doctor myself.

i have health insurance but it is not the best coverage, and yes switching jobs is horrible because the COBRA insurance they offer you is outrageous to afford.

I hear you, we have been without mostly since hubby lost his last real job. He went a year before finding new work. Worked as a temp til then. Had insurance briefly, however, could make it since it costs so much from every check. So now 3 summers hence, no insurance. Takes so much to live from day to day so until our lives are back on track, if ever, we have no insurance. Good luck with your situation.

I've always been able to COBRA my insurance from one job to the next, until I get new coverage. It's very expensive, but you never know what will happen if you don't have it. Right now I've been doing the COBRA thing for about 4 months, and it's killing me. It's over $1,000/month for me to keep the family plan for my husband and I. They didn't have an employee + spouse plan like some places do. Depending on where you live, you should be able to get health insurance. Do you have a job that you could get it through, at least until you're covered through him again? Do you belong to any clubs? AAA offers health insurance, and so does AARP and such. So check out everything you belong to, to see if they offer health insurance. You're bound to find something.

I hear ya! We were without insurance for 3 YEARS! We could not afford topay all of it our of our pockets. My husband switched jobs last year, and thank God we now have insurance. I fyou have to go to the doctor, let them know you don't have insurance, ours were so happy to work with us. If you or kids need an rx, be sure to ask for samples from the doctor.
