How do you feel about making friends online?

I have to say that I am not a big fan of the idea of people 'falling in love' with someone they met online. Although I know a few people who met their significant others online and it has worked out well. What I don't get is how people can be 'in love' before they ever meet face to face. I think the internet is a great way to meet people from all different walks of life, and it gives us a chance to meet people with similar interests as well. I have actually made a few really good friends, just by chatting. But I don't truly consider them a friend until we actually 'hang out' and determine that we do get along in person. How do you feel?

there is nothing wrong in 'falling in love' with someone you meet online. bcz today you can talk and see each other due to technical advancements and thus you can better know about the other personand his/her thoughts. also as far as i think love is something which is related to soul. when you meet someone online and chat with him/her, you may can understand his thoughts, ideas, and personality. this is enough for falling in love with someone.

My only 'objection' if you will, is that people can easily put on a facade when you are not in their presence. It is not hard to pretend to be someone you are not when you're online. That is why I could never allow myself to get into a romantic relationship with a person until I have met them. I admit, it is very easy to fall in love with the idea of a person. . .

Well its o.k. to make a friend online. You can chat, you can share aidea, thought etc. But falling in love? I don't see how can you fall in love unless you meet them. for me I have to talk, meet and get to know that person and if I like that person than only.... you can fall in love.

My mom and step-dad met online and have been married now for two years so it is possible to meet good people online.

I'm good at chatting, but I prefer to meet people in person. It's so easy for someone to assume an entirely different personality; my gut instinct is to meet them in person. I tried online dating ONCE--OMG, I ended up dating a man that was over a foot taller than myself! I prefer someone closer to my height (my boyfriend is maybe 3" taller and perfect for me). I have a few good cyber friends, and one I actually met that I'm still close with. It's a rare thing for that to happen and I consider myself blessed!
