Would you cancel your cable company if they dropped a channel you watch?

Currently our local cable company and one of the local stations are having a contract dispute over an HD channel that airs for free, but the local channel wants Cox Communications to pay for (supposedly). As of this evening it was not resolved. The local channel is WWL-TV, which is CBS. Now we don't watch a ton of CBS, but we do enjoy CSI and CSI: Miami. The cable company is offering the equippment to get the free air channel (bunny ears and an AV switch). After midnight tonight, if they drop the channel we would have to use the silly bunny ears to get the air channel, which does defeat some of the purpose of having the cable to begin with. If this does happen, I don't know if we would keep cable. If this channel goes, what channel would be next? What would you do in this situation?

If it was a local channel I probably would have to cancel and go elsewhere for sure. I watch mostly local television. If it was a random cable channel it wouldn't matter as much. Cable companies are such a racket I think !

Only problem is that the only other option is Dish and none of the dish companies include local channel so you end up paying so much more. So it iscable or nothing.

I would probably drop it. Because our cable rates keep going up each year. How very frustrating? I hope they keep it for you.

Thanks. Our cable rates have not increase since 2000 or so. They just increase the internet rates, but since I get such a steep discount, I didn't notice the increase. They are rasing some rates, but only if you subscribe to only one service. I can't complain about the cost. How many people can say that they get internet, phone, and digital cable for $116/month. It is just pisses me off that they can't work with a local channel and support our failing economy because of one channel.

It sounds like you have previously had problems with this company if I remember a previous post.. If you have to get the bunny ears, then you might as well get yourself a satalite dish or something similar.

I don't know what I am going to do because this is just one channel. My son loves all the cartoon channels. I don't know if I want to not have all the other channels I watch because the company decide to drop one of them that I can get thorugh the air.
