car speedometers

why do alot of automobile speedometers read over 100mph when you cant legally go that fast on any road? someone explain this to me. THANKS

alot of the german cars are most likely built with germans in mind they have roads there called autobahn,s (same as a freeway /motorway) they have no speed limits on them (they have a recomended speed limit of 130 km/h 80mph) but you can go as fast as your car and your driveing skill can handle i took my mates bmw z3 down it at 115mph felt very crazy shooting past cops at that speed :)

well you guys are pretty lucky. I blew past a cop at 65 mph in a 25 mph and i got arrested haha. Thanks for the response.

yeah I wish lived in Germany, I would love to experience their high way with no speed limits
