Why only success is admired?

I always wonder why everybody likes success so much?. It might be a matter of individual or team, everybody will admire the one with success. Doesnt Success depends on many things?? like the situation, nature and a bit of luck? Then why isnt the people who have put in sincere efforts without success aren't admired? Is the taste of success so sweet and of failure so bitter? why is world so baised?
