Have you every travelled by car or camper across the USA?

The summer I first got married we headed out in our Volkswagon Bug from Boston to the west coast, down to the South and back up. We didn't have a lantern, so bedtime was when the sun went down. What a summer of fun! I would like to do it again with a Toyota Dolphin and a leisurely pace. Has anyone out there done this, and what do you think were the most beautiful spots in this country?

OMG I would LOVE to rent an RV and load up the kids and dogs and travel across canada then into the states and across the U.S back to Western New York...that would be absolutely fabulous!! I lvoe to travel and traveling by car is a lot of fun since you can take your time and do it on your own schedule etc....

That sounds like so much fun.I have wanted to travel across the country like that. Haven't gotten to,yet.I have also always wanted to drive Route 66. I have just been able to make shorter trips of getting to see a state here and there.
I would like to find the out of the way spots.The places people tend to forget.
