Help! I'm A Dad of Two Precocious Little Girls (And Another One Is On Her Way!)

Yeah...yeah... you could say that I'm overacting a bit. In truth, I'm proud of the fact that I'm the father of two girls (a nine year old and three year old), and my partner in life is expecting another girl in March. Life in my household could be loud -- very loud. With all the screaming the two girls hurl at each other (thanks to the little one, who takes extreme pleasure in bugging her older sister by invading the latter's territory -- her room), one could say that you tend to get a headache frequently. And what's this "boyfriend" thing? The three year old claims that she has a boyfriend named "Diego". Diego, who? My wife says that it's a cartoon character on tv and so, I tell her to limit the tv viewing. But she shrugs me off with a laugh and tells me that I'm just being a "drama king". Thank goodness for the older one. Her world revolves around the "Winx Club" and "Yu-Gi-Oh" shows. She also loves to paint and write on her journals. Yep, I'm mighty pleased with her. But lately though, good old wifey has been telling me that she's taking our daughter to a hair salon to give her a new layered look. I asked, "What layered look? What the heck is that? I like her pony tails!" Needless to say, I got a good hard stare and a firm response that she and my daughter would be going and THAT was THAT. So much for being king of the household... Not long from now, I'll be a daddy...again. To a little baby girl... again. But you know what? I don't mind it at all. You have to take what life gives you -- all the joys and troubles that come along with it. Yeah... yeah... I'm a daddy. And there's nothing in this world that I would want to trade it for.

Awwww that's so sweet! It's so nice to see a man so interested in his children's lives and happy to be a daddy. Congrats on the latest bundle of joy and goodluck when the cartoon boyfriend turns into the real thing :) Best wishes from a mom of three (2 girls and a boy).

Please! Don't remind me of the "boyfriend" thing. Even at this early stage, my wife and I discuss on what I would do if boys start calling our girls. I have very lovely girls, by the way. And I know they'll be a knockout when they grow up. Wifey asked, "What will you do when they get married?" My answer, "Let the guy pay for the wedding. I paid for ours, right?" Believe it or not, I did pay for my wedding (ok, ok, my dad paid for the reception). From wifey's dress right down to the flower girls' and ring bearer's attires, wedding cake, decorations...everything. I was that kind of a man.

Would you believe I'm the only boy in my family? I have two sisters and the two of them have a boy and a girl each! The weight of carrying our family name is heavy on my shoulders but wifey says enough is enough. She doesn't want to go through the whole pregnancy thing again. I tell her to keep an open mind, but sad to say, she shakes her head at me. Who knows? There still might be a miracle waiting for me in the distant horizon. I am a good boy, after all.
