If you saw someone breaking into a vehicle would you call the police?

What would you do if you witnessed a crime in action? I have had a few times that this has happened and I have been scared to death but still got involved. I have never been hurt but have been threatened. I had one person just laugh at me I was shaking so bad, until I decked him and called the police. I think now I would just start screaming for help and attention as my health isn't so great now, but I would still get involved.

My experiences have taught be to just be a good witness so I would go ahead and call the police and sit there and watch. Where on earth do you live that you've witnessed so many car break ins?

I don't live there now, but I lived in Toronto Canada. I live on the east coast of Canada now and haven't seen it happen for a long while. But I did walk up to three guys in my kitchen robbing me. I thought it was my son's friends outside and came up stairs in my underwear and no glasses. I scared the crap out of them but my poor vision didn't allow me to get a description. :)

Yes, I would call the police is I saw someone that looked like they were breaking into a car. Just because I'd hope someone would do the same for me if it's my car being broken into. Funny thing, I did call one day I saw a guy jamming bar in the back window trying to unlatch it and I did call the cops to find out...the police didn't investigate and a car was reported stolen with the same description.

I most certainly would!!! ...I have had my home broken into and I sure hate to see someone else have to go through that ... I was scared for months afterwards that they had gotten a key to my home so I was parinoid that they would come back... Two grown men had gotten into a fight in front of my home and don't ask me why it was just natural to try to stop them ...well it worked I started yelling at the one guy who was punching the other fellow on the ground ...so gald they quit ..I don't like to see things like that ...if they hadn't of stopped I would have called the police then too ...

We were broken into also and I was home at the time. I thought it was my son's friends pounding on the door and I was trying to sleep. I got up with just my underwear on and headed up stair to find 3 guys in my kitchen. They didn't see me and without my glasses I could barely see them but my first words were, 'What the f*** are you doing in my house?'. They bolted for the door and were gone. There were three of them and I am not sure what would have happened if they had not ran away, but it was my first reaction.

Many years ago before my divorce I had gone outside to have a cig., it was pretty late at night and my then husband was already in bed. We lived on a cul-de-sac, and I knew all of my neighbors. While outside I noticed down the street that someone was on the other side of one of my neighbors cars, I thought it was unusual for that time of night and decided to keep an eye on the situation without appearing to keep my eye on the situation. Long story short it was 2 teenage kids that were breaking into cars stealing stereos and cd's. I did call the police and my then husband chased them down, he was able to catch one. Since I had gotten a good look at them, when the cops came by and asked me if this was one of the kids I saw I said yes. I'm sure that it helped that the back pack he was carrying contained stereos and cd's. So yes I would call the police, our ins. rates increase because of thieves.
