I've known of this group since 04...and I love them. But a lot of the old school fans aren't liking the way they are changing their inmage...some even equate it to selling out! As of this point, I'm neutral. But what do YOU guys think? Do you preffer the old style? Or the new? Or perhaps somewhere inbetween?

Well, I didn't know them before, I started to notice when they started appearing in mtv2 rock countdown. They are a very good band. Quickly becoming one of my fav at the moment. If they didn't sound like they do used too, then I guess I do like the direction that they are going. I think the singer has an amazing voice. My favorite song from them is the kill, the video was cool too. Although the last video that they made was in my opinion a little over the top, I dont think the song was that great for them to have such a long, expansive, and probably expensive video for.

You're right. However, I would reccomend you pick up their self titled "30 seconds to Mars" as well as their recent album "A beautiful lie" It's a great compare/contrast even though the recent album is more mainstream and a lot of old school fans don't like that approach. Catch a live show. You'll be in awe! And yeah, it was a bit over the top. lol! ~*Janelle~*

Hey, i just heard 30 second to mars this few weeks. I heard they song which called The Kill, it's a nice song, kind of emo right ? I don't know their style before, but i am going to like this band. Their vocalist has a great scream.

Yes, and the band sounds even better in person, personally. You can tell that it's true talent when Jared sings. Sad that "emo" is how they're being labeled, but with a song like that, you'd think so. Haha. It's nice, though. I would reccomend you get their self titled album "30 seconds to mars" and listen. Oh, I am in LOVE with their first album. The sound is totally different...they used to be labeled as "space rock." ~*Janelle~*

I think every band known to mankind has been accused of "selling out" by their "hardcore" fans that have been with them from the beginning. I personally don't believe it's truly "selling out" when bands switch gears a bit. Nobody wants the same old same old and when they get to the point of where you can immediately go "oh, another 30 seconds song, just like all their others" it does an injustice to their talents and diversity as a band. I agree they've changed, but perhaps instead of seeing it as "selling out" we should view it as coming full circle with all of their talents and inputs. I love their styles, both old and new.

It's rare a person with great talent like Jared Leto. Keannu Reeves tried to do that before but his band never got the recognition unlike 30 seconds to mars.

I admit that I am one of the newer fans, but I love their older and newer stuff just the same. They are changing, becoming more well-known, etc, and that usually happens to bands. I'm pretty neutral on the issue, also. Its their lives, I say let them do what they want. It is sad that a lot of old fans are dissapointed, but hey, things like this happen. As long as 30 seconds to mars keeps doing what they love and putting on amazing shows, I'll stay loyal. :)

i dont like the way that they changed like going mainstream so i like there old stuff going mainstream makes them go with how all the other mainstream bands go so they end up all the same instead of just being them selfs

I like their song From Yesterday, and their music videos are entertaining because each one holds a story.

I didn't even know who they were until I was watching "My So Called Life" early one morning and flipped to VH1 during a commercial. What did I see? Jared playing "The Kill" acoustic! I feel in love right then. I love their latest album, but have yet to check out any of their others. I plan to soon though.
