Home schooling or public school?

I'm having a hard time deciding if home schooling is better than public school.
my main concern is the safetly in public schools these days. what is your oppinion on this subject?

We home school our son via the internet. I must say that I feel better with him home andI feel he is getting a quality education. One thing I never hear anymore is a teacher saying "I have x amount of students I can't take time out for him" I will say that it takes family disipline to home school.
