I have read about this before. As a teacher I had to advice my students about forming good learning habits. research has shown that it only takes 2 weeks to form a habit however the time taken to break a habit is variable. It all depends on the individuals will power and how desperate the person wants to break a habit. So it is really important that when you make a habit, make sure it is a good one as it will take a lot of time and effort to break it (don't I sound like a teacher).

Technically, I have been told you do not change or break a habit, you merely replace it with another habit that is more desireable. The time frame I have seen is three weeks. I believe a month would be a safer choice.
