Do you love you job or you are just there for the money?

A friend of mine popped this question a while ago and it got me wondering. A lot of people around the world are forced to stay with the job that they hate simply because they believe that they could not find another one better. How long can people with a job which they hate? I did have a job that I did not like and it only took me a couple of months before I am so out of the door and never came back! If you think that's mighty hot headed, you can think all you like but I am so out of it!

We have something in common here. I work in a job because I needed the money. It is a really pressured job. I am being pressured daily by employers, clients and even the staff. Life was really stressful. Anyway, the good news is that I am quiting in two months time. Not that I am financially free but there is more than that in life. I am planning to work from home and still make a living. Wish me luck because I'll need all of it.

Good for you! I always say to myself that there are kinder ways of earning a living and putting yourself through hell. It feels good to call off the bluff of the office bully isn't it? Of course you don't have to really get nasty or rant and rave to your employer when you quit your job, but somehow it feels so good to finally hand in that letter and watch his or her face when she reads your politely written letter. The SOB probably knew how you feel so he would be amazed at how diplomatic your letter is. hehehe!

There were times that i dont like my job especially when it already gets boring. But most of the times i do like it. Its because what I do is in line with my chosen profession so I guess I've chosen to like it. When things get boring at work, I find means to inspire myself and get motivated to work.. I love work which gives me challenge. I think if i continually get bored, then thats the time that I would not like my job anymore. I think by that time, i will last only a month then I will say goodbye to it.

I love my job. I still think about quitting sometimes, because the people I work with can be frustrating in the extreme. But as for the job itself, it's the best fit I've had so far. I've had other jobs that paid better, but I couldn't stand them and eventually left. I'm much happier now.

Well, let's jsut say we do what we got to do. :) However, when the time comes when things get so unbearable in the workplace, you can still get out and find something more worthwhile.

I am a fresh graduate. I am working as a teacher but very far from what I finished. But I love what i'm doing now.Yes, I went abroad to help my family and to experience how to work far from my family. If people don't love there work but it pays good they stay there for the reason of money. but if they are not happy with their job as if they will not stay there for as long time.there will come a time that they will look for another job even if it pays low.

People work for money, if they have money they happy, what they do to get that money will be all worth it in the end, whether you're a caretaker of the school or a pilot flying for Air New Zealand

i dont like my job but personally i stay in current job because i need the money for the life. it is very hard in here to get proper job which is suitable with your education background. and most of the company they need someone with experience and in this case like all fresh graduate we do not have any experience then it is hard for us to get the job or it is very big disadvantage for myself. at the moment even though i really hate my job but i have no choice becaise it is support my living. but sometime when i work i feel so depress about what i have done in my job.{do the same routine job)

Sounds really tragic! I must tell you that I've been there, done that and survived. When you are young and new in the workplace, people seem to think that they have the right to boss you around. Anyway, if you can't really stomach the work anymore, you can always quit, look for another employment or start a business of your own and be your own boss. Now, wouldn't that be grand?

I never take a job that I do not like doing. It is a disaster for me to work at some place that I never wanted to be in in the first place. There are people who would just about do any job for money. We can't blame them though. Life is tough nowadays. As for me, I've never experienced such circumstances as of yet. So in response to your question, I am here at an IT-Solutions firm for the fun. Money is just a perk. =)

I recently got laid off my job. I was there for 14 years and also loved my job. Then about 2 years ago the company started changing for the worse I believe. Many people were unhappy and the owners refused to even do anything about it. I don't believe that companies care about employees anymore these days. They just figure, get rid of one and get another one. Simple as that. Well when I was laid off it wasn't the worst thing. I was so unhappy with the job and all the crabby people.

Yeah, the workplace can be really a stressful place. But I salute you. Being in one company for 14 years is really long. The longest I stayed with one employer before I went freelance is 2 years. I did love that job that's why I stayed for two years, and yeah, the pay was great too. Had I not really wanted to start my own business, I would probably have stayed a bit longer. :)

I always love what I'm doing or else I wouldn't apply in the first place. Sometimes I don't care about the pay but if the environment is not pleasant one, I will start thinking about the money compensation. I quit some of my jobs and never came back, I never regretted that at all, because somehow I always got better paying job after quitting. Make sure though before you left that you have the records of what you were doing and the results so they couldn't make you the black sheep later on.

Yep, that's the thing to do. Don't leae your mess behind or else the company will have some reason to mess arounf with your personnel file too. A bad review from an employer could sometime scare the others away.

I recently started a pet sitting/dog walking business with my boyfriend and I'm loving it! Business is still slow, but I think it's worth it to be doing something that I genuinely enjoy. I'd rather make less money doing something I love than make tons of money doing something I hate.

see now that's something I would LOVE to do. My first job was as a housekeeper at a little motel in a small town. Pay was alright, but there was a severe lack of communication between me and the owner/boss. Basically they were to call me when I was needed. I then didn't hear from them for a couple months. I later found out the onwers had moved and I had a new boss. My current job is alright. Good people, the actual working part isn't too bad, pay is enough to get me by....but I'm just getting bored with it.

I was also like you. I joined a company after completing my graduation and I was there in that concern for just 2 months. I dint like that job and so I quit from the company. I was sitting idle for one month and then only joined the present company. In this company, salary is not upto the industry standard but I dont like to quit as I love this job. Its very much intersting and I never feel like quitting from the current job.

Thats exactly how I am. And I hate it. I usually stay at a job*which I am actually doing now* that I can not bare to deal with. I hate that I do that but my thing is is I have to find something beter before I can just up and leave. I need the money and its not like I'm broke but its just priorities and responsibilities that come with working and quitting and being a slacker. I can NOT slack. I would be depressed just from that. But yea, being in a job you hate is something I have done many times. Now, also, to be exact.

I don't work outside the home, Ido however have the toughest job there is. I don't get paid exept wth kisses and hugs and ocasionally flowers from my hubby. I am the stay at home mother of 3 kids, one of my boys is severly disabled and stays here learning at home with me. I would not trade my job for all the money in the world. We struggle on a daily basis but, I will someday be able to tell my grandkids and family and friends that I never missed a day of my childrens lives! never not one! Thats worth it all to me.
