A Sikh is a person who bows and accepts the sayings of first ten sikh gurus from Guru Nanak to Guru Gobind Singh ji and then the present Guru - Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. A sikh does not bow his head before any other devi devta .... When a sikh takes Khanda pahul amrit and start leading his life in total rehat maryada, he becomes a part of Khalsa....

waheguru g ka khalsa waheguru g ki fateh .............. I have many a times come across this question.... now i would feel proud to explain it all.. in Sikhism it has been a tradition to be a saint soldier(sant sipahi)..... even from the history we have the examples of guru hargobind sahib g, baba gurditta ,baba deep singh g,and every sikh OR singh at the time of guru gobind singh g .... actually , every sikh is required to do nitnem (pray to god daily) and also when there is a need to fight for the dharam(humanity,,,,,,, manas ki jat sabbe eko pehchanvo ,i.e every human is created by the almighty ) ,, it is sikh's or singh's duty to fight for justice and help the weak and poor........ so, please it is my request to all the sikhs or singh's to please do not put misconceptions in other people's mind because guru gobind singh g transformed the sikhs into singh (saint soldiers) to serve the HUMANITY PROUD TO BE KHALSA...................
