18th birthday ideas

My 18th birthday is coming up in about a month or two from now, and I'm thinking of either getting my lip pierced or a tattoo.
If I get my lip pierced, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what a good size would be. I'm getting a ring, that i know, but I'm not sure of what size is good, and what size is going over-board.
If I get my tattoo, I'm getting one of two things. Either the letter V on my upper right arm, or broken black angel wings on my back.
If anyone has any help on what I should get, let me know. Any suggestions on the size, and stories of what you have are also appreciated. Thanks.

Oh I do not think that a tatoo would be a good idea I had one done around the same age and I wish I hadn't now. Lip piercing is ok though if you like this. The size would all depend on the size of your lips as some people have thick lips and some thin some it depends on this.
