Grocery Shopping - Healthy foods!

United States
February 3, 2007 6:20pm CST
I went grocery shopping today and I found it so hard to try and pick out foods that I actually liked, but were healthy! If I wasn't trying to eat healthy I could have had a full cart in under 5 minutes. I just get bored with the foods I'm eating, and I'm looking for new things to try. What would you recomend? Can be simple foods or recipes, anything is helpful!

I know this might sound weird but I subscribed to a thing called cooknik at Allrecipes.com which is a free recipe site, probably the biggest on the net. But they give healthy easy recipes weekly with a prepared grocery shopping list for the entire week and this saves me a lot of money as well as making my life a whole lot simplier. At least try looking at allrecipes.com, you might find good tips there.

Your subject ties in with this - why are healthy food so much more expensive than junk foods like chips and chocolate? Do you have any fresh fruit and veg stores in your area? When we lived on the west coast there was an awesome store called Henry's but they are regional in California. They had the best selection of 'health' foods without it being a place that all the granola loving hippies would frequent.
