Who is the best President the US has ever had? And why? What about 2nd and 3rd

The Soothsayer - This guy is not a president. He is a wise man, who contemplates the important issues, and the not-so important ones. Picture from www.mesart.com/agillet27

Who is the best president the US has ever had, and why? What about a second and third choice? Let me know if you disagree with my choices, too!My choices would be: 1. Lincoln- because he abolished slavery in the face of a very unpopular civil war, where he was hated with a tenacity worse than Bush faces. He held the country together, and promoted reconstruction after the war, not revenge. 2. Franklin D. Roosevelt- He helped pull us out of the depression, and through the second World War. He gave the people hope when it was tough to find. 3. Reagan- I like his economic policies, and his tough foriegn policy stance, which was instrumental in ending the cold war. Also, Iran released the American hostages during his time, knowing that he was far stronger than Carter. Other favorite presidents are John Adams, George W. Bush, George Washington, and JFK. I don't like to go into what presidents actually harmed the country, because Americans can pull through damn near anything. But here goes... Carter, Clinton, Nixon. Nixon because of the scandals, and because he was so distrusting of everyone; Clinton and Carter because they were amazingly, blindly soft on Radical Islam, and by this weakness, greatly encouraged said Islamists. What are your choices?

The best president that the US has ever had would be 1. Lincoln for the exact reason you have here as no living soul should be a slave to anyone. 2. Bill Clinton he may have been blind to Radical Islam but he did a lot for my country Australia to be able to go to America without a visa and to make it more easier for us as we have always stuck by America in times of war, and even though there are a lot of Australians that do not agree with George Bush and John Howard, the people of Australia should look and learn if it was not for America then there would not be any Australia here to be a free country. 3. Franklin D Roosevelt he did a lot and pulled his people out of depression, and through the 2nd world war.

Thanks for the response. Australia has ALWAYS stood with the US, which is why I like them so much on foriegn policy. I plan to visit the land down under someday.
