Did you live together first?

i just read another discussion that got me wondering. did you live with your spouse before you married? if you did how long? i did my husband and i lived together for almost 8 years before we got married.i feel it is better this way. we have been through alot good and bads but it always works out. i don't feel you really know a person till you live with them. how do you feel about this and were you married first? let me know
