Has anyone been to hawaii, or lives there? I might be moving there and it would be good to know some of the things to do there besides going to the beach.

i lived there for 17 years. and i never really went to the beach all that much. there's some things to do. especially if you're of age (which i wasn't the whole time i was there) there is quite a bit of night life there. i suggested listening to radio stations and getting yourself on some guest lists. some of the clubs i remember were Venus, Pipeline, Worlds...i'm sure there more. there are some good ones by the Peir and of course in Waikiki. Where are you moving to anyway?? Oahu?? thats there i grew up, thats probably the most active island. there's also some good shopping, but it is a little expensive there...since it is an island, most goods have to be shipped there. um...what kinds of things do you like anyway...if you give me more information, i could probably tell you more things. i haven't been there for so long, but i remember most places. if you make friends with the locals, they can take you around to some of the spots the tourists don't get to see.

most likely if you're in the military, you'll be stationed on Oahu since thats where most of the military bases are. i have some family and friends there in the military. there are always quite a bit of live concerts, hawaiian music are most of them. just listen to the radio and you'll find out where they're all at. i used to intern for a station down there, so they're always. lot of good fishing spots there. like magic island by the harbor, ala moana some people like to fish there. i don't know much about that because it was my grandpa and uncle who liked to fish. if you like nature, then there are some good/safe hiking areas. one i've done is daimond head and i remember one nead red hill that was pretty challenging but someone what safe. if you're going to be there during the summer season, then diving at north shore is fun, the water should be calm enough and of course clear. another great place to go all year round is Haunama Bay, since they have live fishes who come inside the reefed off area. i'm not sure if you can feed them or not, but you can swim with them. a nice secluded beach area.
