How many of you have strict albums?

Yesterday I vendored at an all day crop for a MOPS group. The one thing I noticed was how stressed some of these crafters were. They kept talking about how far behind they have gotten and how they just have to get the baby book done or this project done. I personally have been scrapbooking for 10+ years and have not done half the things these women have done. One woman had a book for each of her children with 2 pages for every month of the year making a 24 page book. To me it just seemed way to pressured and stressed. Because this how she does her albums she told me she always feels behind. I laughed and told her you know that this isn't a job, or a bill with late fees, scrap the pictures you want in the order you want. She looked at me like I was crazy LOL! I have over ten books (not counting my mini-theme albums) but I would have to say that they aren't in order of any kind. I go through my photos and decide on my next page. How about you do scrap willy nilly like me or are you a time line kind of person.

I scrap willy nilly, but I put the pages in order when they go in the album. I like them to tell a chronological story. I feel 'behind' because I have stacks of pictures to do. But I like to do a layout based on pictures that inspire me, in whatever order.

That is pretty much what I do also. I guess though I just never have thought about being behind. Does it stress you out, or do you still just enjoy scraping?

When I hadn't scrapped in two years (I had been very sick - a long bout of mono and then a longer recovery from it) I felt like I was very behind. I was worried that something might happen to me before I coudl get those pictures in albums and get the stories down. I know, that's a morbid thought. Now, I am not really behind - I have pictures to do, but I don't have years unaccounted for in my albums. So I guess my answer to your question is ... sometimes yes and sometimes no ... depends on how much time has passed.

I recently had my second child, and at the time I was a year "behind" on my older daughter's book. For some, a year's worth of pictures isn't that much, but she is our first-born and we just got a new digital camera (need I say more?) But I've recently discovered the joys of scrapbooking parties and, believe it or not, am all caught up. The only problem is, now I've found my wedding pictures that have been in a box in the attic...

I tend to run on a time line, but I also like to theme pages together. Since most of my books have been for my two young children, I'll do two "bath-time" pages, or two "silly faces" pages, that are often out of order time-wise. I definitely think you should scrap however you see fit. It is, after all, a reflection of YOU...your creativity, your life, your memories. That is what makes every scrapbook a perfect work of art!

Holy Cheese 4000 photos! You really do need to have a goal LOL. You must really love to take photos. I totally agree with that a scrapbook is a reflection of yourself. PS I sell scrapbooking too who do you sell for? I sell TLC

I have theme albums and most of my albums are works in progress. I have an album each for the kids, a school album just for the special school stuff for each, my album, holiday albums, family tree albums. About the only album that gets finished is my holiday albums as I do them not long afterwards. With the others, I will try and get at least one old page done when I do a new page. I have about 4,000 photos that I have not yet scrapped and want to scrap, so it is an ongoing challenge. I set a personal goal of doing a page a day, but as a teacher and seller of scrapbooking supplies, this is partly to get stuff done and to promote my work. SO far I am only 1 page behind for the year and tonight is a night to do scrapping with some customers.

I scrapbook what photos inspire me. I feel that if you push your scrapbooking, you aren't as creative as you would like to be. For some people, they scrapbook to perserve their memories and only to preserve, hence being so strict about scrapping in order where as I scrapbook because its my hobby, my interest and my time. I like to have fun scrapbooking, try to push myself to discover new techniques and while I am preserving my memories, I am also having fun and doing something that I love. So I willy nilly like you. Lol

Just a point on the ultrasound photos. Depending on what sort of paper they use, you have to scan and reproduce the image (if it was from a photo) as the paper that they use will go black in time.

I had no idea! I will scan them in just in case. They are already over 14 years old but better safe than sorry. Thansk for the tip.

This is exactly how I feel, I love to just go with the moment and do whatever pictures suit me. I just did a layout using the ultrasound pictures of my son. He is almost 14 now and just got the official fist page in his book.

I like to scrap my most favorite pictures first! And, now that I've compeleted most of them I'm trying to get the rest of my pictures all organized. Once I finally get them all in order by years, I will probably become pretty OCD about it... but for now it's all just fun.

well I'm a little of both actually. I like to get all my favorite memories scrapbooked in chronological order. So I'm still working on summer 2006 at the moment, as I'm very busy and sometimes don't get a lot of time to scrapbook, or certain *cats* get in the way by sitting on my work. But I don't freak out if I don't get an album done every year, and Im not fanatical about scrapping every picture. I mostly just scrapbook memories or adventures that I like to remember. I don't limit to the pages either. If I have a lot of great pictures for a certain event, like going to the zoo, hten it's ok if it goes to six pages. And if I scrapbook my bon jovi concert, it's ok if it's only one or two pages, cause I don't have as many pictures.

LOL! All my pages have a little kitty on them. I am sure she waits until I have everything set out and then plop right in the middle of everything. I also only scrap memorable pictures. But sometimes I find pictures from years back in a stash and then I just have to make a page of them. PS I love Bon Jovi when my best friend and I were younger she was convinced she was going to marry Richie LOL!!

I scrap more like you, in that I scrap with what pictures I have and are interesting at the time. I do have a "wish list" of spreads that I want to do, which includes something like your friends layout of a spread each month, only for my daughter's first year. We had professional portraits made every month, and I have 11/12 of those months scrapped already...and now I feel like I need to go back and add a spread of snapshots for each month too. But, that's my own neurosis, and I certainly don't have any timeline for it! :) I definitely concentrate more on keeping my current scrapbook, well, current - that way I really don't feel "behind". Anything outside of that book is just a bonus. I'm also working on two smaller albums - one of my godson and one as a gift for my neice - and I'm sure I'll start a Disney album after our trip this fall too. They'll all get relatively complete...eventually! Scrapping is supposed to be FUN; I refuse to stress too much over it.

I rarely get my children's photos taken professionally which of course I feel bad about. I just noticed yesterday that Wal-mart has a sale on the picture package so I guess I had better get in there. Ater your trip you should check out Hot Off the Press they have entire Disney Line including some really nice albums.

I am so trying to make this as stress free as possible. I'm very behind in my scrapbooking. I've got 3 children and do not have individual books for them. I tried at first but it was just too hard to keep up with. So i'm sticking to a family album(s) and i'm not in order. That's a job for another day!

This how I scrap I find the photos I really want to do or I see a layout and I think have just the picture for that. And off I go. I did finally break down and seperate out the kids so now they have their own album each.

I have an album for each child, a general album, and start new albums for things like a big vacation. I don't stress about it - there are only so many hours in the day, and I like to play with my kids when they are awake. With a 23 month old and a 6 month old things get busy. The pictures are not going to go anywhere (I'll get to them when I get to them) and I get multiple copies of my pictures so that one copy goes in a photo album that is kept up to date. When I get the time - I scrapbook a lot. No stress and it stays a fun pass time for me.
