Why are parents in such a hurry to rid themselves of their responsibilities by allowing their teenage daugthers and sons to get married. The kids only just learnt to take care of themselves, what about a family. Surely, it must not be easy to raise a kid without the support of the parents let alone being bullied into getting married to the person you might not really see as your life long partner. A colleague of mines son got someone pregnant and it was only a one night stand, now what do you do in this instance. You as a parent to save yourselve from the embarrassment, force your teenage child to do the right thing with the girl by marrying her or do you support them until they old enough to make their own decisions?

I personally would never force my children to marry due to pregnancy. I think if it is forced a far healthier relationship between the parents and child if they do their own thing. I don't know what country you are in and what afe you feel teenagers are able to make their own decision about marriage but here in Scotland the age for marriage is 16 without consent from anyone. Not often to people marry at this age though. I have never met any circumstances where the parents are forcing the children to get married but often where is they choose then the parents will back them for the sake of not causing arguement or interfering in the life they have chose to set up.

thanks for your response. I am in South Africa, and the tell you the divorce rate are increasing at a remarkable rate. I have seen young kids divorce after the first year of marriage, and it is happening more and more, which is rather scary
