Past history and past civilizations are important factor in answering present questions. It is very important for us to know what are past civilizations are and how to relate it with present for the betterment of the future. Looking back at the past made us realize what we are now in the present and it not only give us proof but is also give us idea that there are things in the present that already exist in the past.

I don't think it is. History and Civilazation has molded whet we have right now. It's inmportant to learn that to appreciate what we have today. And most of all, the very essence of studying history is to avoid making the mistakes that was done by our forefathers before.

I agree.Maturity of thought can gained by studying past history and past events. With the past we can look at contemporary problems 'from above'.and avoid going to wrong way as before.

Usually history holds a lesson for eveyone to learn ..if you are merely memorizing dates it can be monotonous; but, if you ask yourself ..what can I learn from this..it is not useless. This, however, is my opinion.
