Has anybody tried Hypnotherapy as an alternative medicine?

Have you tried hypnotherapy? Why did you get it? Did it work? I'm thinking of getting hypnotherapy to try and help with my eating habits. My comfort eating relates back to traumas I had when I was smaller, but I can't get out of it. Do you think hypnotherapy works and would you try it when all else has failed?

my niece has done it- she was very depressed (my brother in law is a drunk and left the family about 8 years ago) she started getting depressed about 4 years ago she felt like her father didin't love her and never wanted her and the dr gave her pills - they just made her feel weird, so my sister decided that why not try hypnotherapy. my niece liked the idea and so far she is much better happier, no more pills, that was two years ago...now she started college and has also found a boyfriend. I would not recommend the kind of hypnosis in group form - my friend tried it - it did nothing for him, you need to go for a one on one with a specialist.

Thank you for sharing that with me. I'm so glad your niece is on the road to recovery now! Thanks for the tip about going to group hypnosis, I don't think I would have fancied doing that anyway!!

Hypnotherapy does work, but not for everyone. It might be able to help you with cravings or the onset to what triggers the cravings but as far as keeping you from eating, that's not what it's designed for. Think of it as a preventative thing; like checking the oil in your car or breaking in shoes before you wear them all the time so you don't get blisters. Do you get anxious then feel the need to eat? Or is it more like you get bored, your mind wanders and you start thinking of things from your past? If it is the latter then the solution is simple, keep busy LOL. I am not trying to make light of your situation, just trying to offer some friendly suggestions. From what I have seen it is something that works for about 50% of the people. I tried it to stop smoking but it didn't work. But that is a whole different type of treatment and involves a lot more will power. Good luck!

Thank you for that, I'm sure I eat the wrong things when I feel sad and need to perk up, but eating stuff that somehow relates to my childhood makes me feel happier and thats what I want to break!

I think it works for you if you want it to. Hypnotherapy works by directly tapping into your subconscious and leaving suggestions there for you to act upon. In many ways it acts to re write your past but from a perspective where you are in control of events. I can heartilly recommend it, it really does work if you let it and want it to. blessed be please let us know how you get on

Yes I have tried hypnotherapy, and alternative medicines. I did hypnotherapy to get over something bad that happened to me as a child and believe me it worked, and in regards to alternative medicine I always have believed in this as I think it is best to try this in most cases to other medicines with chemicals.

I would love to know more about your past life regression! I was told I was a shamen in a previous life! Sounds fascinating. I know it would probably take more than a few sessions (I'll probably go bankrupt with all the skeletons that are in my closet!!) I'm sure it may help with your self confidence! Thanks for sharing this with me!
