Nope. If he did try, it'll be boring. He has a bad habit of relying on his wah-pedal when he runs out of good note combinations to play on a solo. :)

Yup, maybe he is the worst of Satriani's student. Do you listened to Satan? What do you think about his playing? Thanks for your response

It might be interesting to hear Kirk Hammet by himself, as I've got the impression he's got one of the best ideas of what good music should be in Metallica these days, and if you watch "Some Kind of Monster", you'll notice his voice doesn't really get heard within the band.
Lars Ulrich didn't want guitar solos on "St.Anger", and I know he fought back to have some, though.
That being said, hasn't Hetfield traditionally been the main song writer in Metallica? I know they were all working together on "St.Anger", but then the songs weren't amazing on that album.
I would like to hear Kirk Hammet by himself, but I am a bit worried about his song writing abilities. I think it would be cool if he didn't try to make something too commercial but rather did an album of old school Thrash Metal! A bit like back to the roots of Exodus, where Kirk Hammet originally came from!
