Why do some beggars not give up begging?

This is a very curious state of affairs. I met a businessman recently, who wanted to help an old woman and her daughter who were begging in front of the railway station. He offered them a job in his manufacturing unit for a monthly salary of Rs. 2000. They accepted. They turned up the next day in front of the same railway station begging. The man was furious. He asked them why they did not come to work. The answer was astonishing. "We make approximately Rs.200 a day. If you calculate the month's earnings, we would be getting 5 to 6 thousand. So why should we work for a monthly salary of 2thousand?" A paradox is'nt it?

according to me begging is one the biggest growing threats in our country. the beggars dont like to give up begging mainly because for them it is a business in which they get daily rewards without much of hard work n thinking. ironically it is o growing industry in which people who arent able to earn their livelihood throogh hard work get ready to sacrifice even their body parts so that people can feel pitty on them and give them some money.they just have to sit at one place and keep making us feel pitty on them . they are able to earn sufficient money by doin such things ,even more than that offered in some respectable jobs today. this is the reason why beggars dont give up begging.

1. A big gang is working to maintain beggers. 2. It is easy way to earn money and the money you give invariably does not go to the begger 3. Many beggers are kidnapped children, converted into begging, and to remove the identity, they cause physical injury to the children 4. They collect the money from beggers thus collected from people and give them food. 5. There are leaders of beggers who have own houses, mobile, vehicles etc. still operate. This is nothing but slavery.

You may be right. But if there were gangs operating to maintain beggars, their earnings would go off to them. Then why do the beggars not accept employment? Is it because of fear of the gang?

its a human nature that when you pick a work to do, new habits comes with that work. same case with the beggars . when first they beg it seems too difficult for them but afterwards thay take it as a profession. and with time they understand that to live , its thier job to beg !!
