Myth or Fact?

You know I always wonder if its true that people who are good in English subjects like literature, phonology and the like are poor in mathematics and vice versa. I have friends who are really good in English but find difficulty in dealing with numbers. I for one excel in my English subjects but I perform so poorly in math. I observed some students in schools and I noticed that those who get good grades in English don't do well in math and vice versa. It really puzzles me if this is true. Care to share your thoughts on this one?
