Is this astronaut mentally ill?

I am sure many of you have seen this on the news. One of the female American astronauts drove from California to Florida to kidnap another female astronaut because both of them were in love with the same man, also an astronaut. The would-be kidnapper has been part of a crew that went to space, is an engineer, and so far had a stellar career with NASA. She has three children and is or was married. Do you think she snapped?

I was watching the story. She drove all that way wearing a diaper so she would not have to stop. The same smarts people have that make them very successfull are the same smarts that bring people down. Wack-a-do. :)

She must be. I don't wish to believe that a sane woman would do such a thing, but sometimes obsessions can lead to very bizarre and damaging behavior, even murder. I hope she gets the help she needs and that her family can cope with what's happened. It would be hard enough knowing your mom had attempted murder, but to have the entire world know it too? Can't imagine.

Driving from Texas to Florida is a long way, at least 900 miles. The female astronaut certainly had time to think about waht she was doing. I think that the stress of being an astronaut was just too much on her, she just snapped. She lives in a nice area of Houston, close to NASA. She has messed up her nice retirement from the Navy (she is a captain), messed up her marriage, and caused her children to be rediculed (can't you almost hear the other children tell her kids that their mother wears diapers?. I can well imagine that she regrets ever going to Florida and doing what she did.
