I have a 20 month old girl that was diagnosed with diabetes when she was only 13 months old. One day I found that she was really upset and could not figure out why. I took her to the hospital and they said it was nothing. Things got worse and she started throwing up then had breathing problems. At that point she had visited the ER 4 times and then they finally ran tests. When the blood work showed how much sugar was in her, she ended up being air lifted to the children's hospital and treated right away. Has anyone encountered this before and if so, what was your reaction. Let me tell you that my reaction was not good, I was really upset and needed to know why something like this can happen to someone so young. She is now 20 months old and she has to have her blood checked all the time and she also has to have insulin by needle everyday. She is so young and does not understand what is happening.
