My Son loves the Harry Potter, and AnMorphs. I buy them for him and he will read them I just don't know if they are good for him. I use to buy what was on the readers state list but this year he said the books were not interesting to him. What kind of books do you allow your kids to read?

Because my daughter is just learning to read and sometimes loses enthusiasm for it, I try to let her read anything that she is interested in. I don't think that you need to stop your kids reading anything really as there is so much great knowledge to be gained from books. The only thing I would suggest is to encourage them to read a wide range of different books so they can get a wide experience.

Well my 2nd grader has all sorts of books that she likes. She is not yet at a stage to wear I censor what she reads. I do make sure she is not reading something that is over her head. My parents always indulged my love reading & I will do the same for my girls.

My kids are avid readers and they love to read. I let my children read anything they are interested in as long as it is age appropriate. My son likes to pick the series read the same series for a month. Since my kids read 3-4 levels above their grade it became harder when my daughter was a 6th grader and I had to read some of the books to make sure it was ok for her to read those other then that you should not restrict or they will loose interest in reading.

I am not sure what the AnMorphs are like but I let my kids read the Harry Potter books. At first I was worried about my kids reading them, so I decided to read them first. The only thing it will do is give the kids an imagination. My main concern was the magic in Harry potter, but after reading it, I felt that it was ok.

As long as my child is willing to read, I am completely happy, because even a comic book will teach them a new word or idea. I wouldn't allow an eight year to read an adult novel, but then again I started reading 1000 page novels at the age of 12, and believe me when it comes to English class, all that reading paid off not only in class but also on the SAT test. Reading in itself is the MOST important part.
