I would be absoultely lost without this service. The main question is, how many of you have tried Netflix and Blockbuster and which do you prefer? I am currently with Netflix but am just about to start a free trial to Blockbuster...would be interested to hear other opinions.

nexflix is the way to go, unless you are not in a major city then it will take forever for your dvd to come in the mail. Im in wichita,ks but my brother is in colby, ks and he said it takes him 3 hours to get his, because it fomes from wichita. that sucks.

Netflix is infamous for "throttling" their members. In other words, if you are going through movies too quickly, they will purposely slow you down. During a time when I was watching a lot of movies, I noticed that when they got my movies in, they would wait a day or two to send them out when they used to send them out the next day. This was really annoying because the movie was listed as "available now." I'm not sure if the problem is sometimes volume or if they do it intentionally, but it can really drive me crazy. however, I do stay with netflix because it was cheaper than blockbuster at the time I signed up and I've been told that netflix has a better selection of DVDs. You should post back and let us know how blockbuster works out. This way more of us can compare.

well, so far the speed of service is about the same, the movie selection is about the same and the website layouts are pretty much the same. The only real plus in Blockbusters favor is the ability to return the movie to their store (we have one real close) and receive a store credit for another movie which is great if you are looking for a specific title that day.

Netflix is a good service but you have to stay on top of the movies you have out, how many are on your list and when they are returned. I tried them out and after the free trial, it took forever to get the 'new release' movies, something that wasn't the case when I was in the free trial. My thinking is that they give you great servicce, suck you into the program then make it hard to cancel. I had that problem and refused to deal with it, I called my credit card company and they took care of it for me.

wow...that's interesting. I had heard that if you weren't in a major city that there was a bit of a wait between movies (I am in Atlanta and it's usually a pretty quick turnaround)...thanks for the info

I have been signed up for both. I perfer Blockbuster. But I don't know about Nexflix services anymore because it has been a couple years since I was signed up for them. I reason I went to blockbuster is because for the $10 rate I can get more movies than with the $10 for nexflix. I liked them both but for my financial situation blockbuster was better for me.

I prefer Blockbuster.com, as you can return them to the store or mail them back. This means more rentals each month, so your ahead, if you love to watch movies as often I would like to see them in the winter months.

I've been with Netflix for more than 4 years now and I am more or less satisfied with their service. But now that it is quite hard for me to mail them right away coz I can't catch the mailman coming in our apartment complex, I wanted to stop subscribing for a while. There is this 1 dollar rental DVD's on the grocery store that we go and I just like the idea coz usually we can just watch movies in the weekends so it will work out for me.

I belong to netflex and absolutely love it. All I have to do is sit at my computer and pick out which movies I want to watch and a reasonable monthly charge and the movie comes to my mailbox. I tried blockbuster but didn't like it quite as much. Maybe because I live eleven miles from a city that has a blockbuster store. So I still would utilize them sending the movie through the mail instead of going to the store. I can not exactly pinpoint why I didn't care for blockbuster but I am still with netflex.

I have been a member of Netflix for 5 or 6 years now and just love it. The only thing I don't like is the hitch with the weekends. They don't mail out on Saturday. So sometimes I am stuck on the weekend with nothing to watch. But I have never had trouble with slow turn around or getting the new films, although when I lived in Arkansas it took a couple of days to get my movies cause they were coming from Texas. In California, we have a one day turn around which is cool. I haven't had too much trouble with broken or scratched discs either. My father tried Blockbuster and he said he had more problems with scratched discs with them. Let us know how it turns out for you.

We were signed up to this but when we used it it started sending us the wrong movies but it is a great service no due dates. I still like it but it does tend to send thr wrong stuff sometimes though.
