Oh yes, I feel your pain too! I also have two in highschool. I almost stroked when I saw the price of yearbooks, fifth-eight dollars, that is ridiculous! The price for going to the prom is outrageous as well. I rembmer my prom as being FREE!! Of course, we did the work ourselves, didn't have it at a fancy place outside the school, and didn't have catered food. What a joke! Wait until you see the cost of graduation attire and invitations! Well, I best go, I'm going to watch....I watch daily and it still hasn't come...I'm watching for my ship to come in.

That is the point of parenting. I think we have to many that approve the excess of our society and it has spread to our children. It has never been right and it should be resisted by parents.

Try having seven... I have two in high school. One in middle school going in high school next Fall. And four in elementary. And all the kids in elementary are back to back in grades, Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third. This means at some point, I will have all four years of high school cover all at the same time!!! Dear Universe...Please let me win the lottery before then! Because between sports, prom stuff, graduation, homecoming, stylish clothes for status, pictures, year books, and four teen appetites...I will need a small fortune to make it through it!

I know what you are going through....When I was in High School I wore the same prom dress that my sister wore to her high school prom......Then my senior year I bought my own prom dress cause I had made the money to buy it the summer job..... When my girls went to there prom I bought them one....The class ring and senior pic they had to pay half on it and I paid the rest...But neither of them wanted one.....Their class pic they were working and bought them for themself. My daughter made the dress for her daughters prom dress..She doesn't buy a lot of the kids clothes she would rather make them....My granddaughter is so happy when her mom makes a new dress for her....She likes them better than the store bought one cause there is no other one like it.....

It's crazy, I don't know how all you parents do it. Forget college funds, these days you have to save for high school first. And I can't believe the prices of these things, it's outrageous. God bless you all and I hope you win the lottery to at least help defer the costs...lol

Amen to all of that!! So far this year, it's been the homecoming dress, driver's ed, school pictures, class ring, the yearbook, 2 sets of cheerleading pictures (junior varsity and varsity) and cheerleading fees up the wazoo!! The coach keeps a running tab of our expenses and we're always in the hole!! I only have one in High School too!! Trust me, I feel your pain!! I don't know how I'd do it with 2. Best of luck to you!! :-)

you don't HAVE to do all that stuff. If your kid is old enough to go to homecoming, they can get a job and pay for their own dress. Get creative and find clothes at thrift shops, or buy a dress on ebay (I bought my wedding dress on ebay) or make their own. Class rings are a waste of money - mine sits in a drawer. As soon as I left for college, it was abandoned. Homecoming and Prom - kids can learn to pay their own way to these social functions, or chip in more around the house to earn their way.

Just save your money and get the minimum and scan them into your computer and print what you need.
