Premature greying of the hair is on the rise. What may be the reason for this and is there any treatment for stopping greying of the hair?

It's inherited. If there is some Italian in your background, i.e. one of your ancestors were Ancient Romans, or came from the Mediterranean area, your hair will turn gray or light blonde if your natural color is of a brownish auburn shade, usually in your twenties. If your hair is charcoal, you won't go premature gray. So what this means if the population in Italy, of which some emigrated, had large families, and they married, and had children, anyone from that background would inherit premature gray hair and if it is a dominant trait, that would be in the majority. Well, it's much better than premature baldness, isn't it?

Thanks for the info.My grandparents on my moms side were from Italy and my dad's side from Poland.I have blonde hair and started getting white streaks in my hair. They are not grey, they they are pretty much white.I started getting this when I was 19.I never dyed them because it looks pretty cool.

First off it is natural to turn grey.I have heard it is from stress.Personally I think it is generic.I don't think there is much you can do about it.Why do you ask? Are you going grey? Nothing to worry about, many woman find a man distinguished with grey hair.

1. It could be due to malnutrition to the hair. 2. Ageing process 3. Use of spurious oils (applied to hair) 4. It could be due to worries 5. It could be due to ill health, consumption of too many medicines. There could be many reasons. But I coming from coastal area, my grand mother used to tell me during my childhood days, that I should apply coconut oil in the morning, before taking bath,(take bath after 30 minutes of oiling the hair). I have been practicing this for 30 years and all my brother's hair at the age of 50, turned fully grey and I am having full black, here and there grey. So with proper care, you can postpone the grey, but cannot prevent. Never never apply artificial colours to the hair like dyes and chemicals.

One way may be to use coconut oil in replace of other haircream. It will help to strengthen the hair follicles as well as moisturise your scalp. The cost is cheap. Unless you consider going for some of those costly treatments around.
