have you ever had to go to the hospital and when is all done, you get stuck with a huge hospital bill? Dont you think it is too high? i mean come on, it shouldnt cost $8000 dollars to have a baby. i mean all of those years in the past people have a baby for far less than that, or when you cut your finger and go in for a badage and it cost you $100? $100 for a bandage , you know how many you can buy with a 100 dollars. i think there is should be a law that would reduce some of the money doctor can charge, because sooner or later it would cost 500 dollars for a bandage or 10,000 for a baby or even more.

I think it's also incredibly sad when people with serious/chronic illnesses can't afford the medical attention they require.

I think if someone was in urgent need of attention they do perform the operation, however they still require the money and the person (who couldn't afford it in the first place) has a huge debt to pay :(

$ 100 for bandage is ridiculous I think. But what kind of cut is that? If it needs doctor's attention then what you are paying must be doctor's fee, not bandage alone. I have no kids yet I don't know how much it will cost to have a baby around here. I think it won't be too much if it's not a private clinic.

i dont have a kid, my friend was the one that got his finger cut, and he wanted to go to the doctor, i told him i could fix it for him, but he didnt want to listen to me, and they did the same thing i would have done, clean his wound and put a bandage on, and the bill came it was for $100 dollars just for went to the clinic for a bandage, and i told him, he could give me $50 dollars and i could do as good as job, as they could.

In Hungary we have National Health Service, social insuarence. Our employers and each employments pays a percent in each month. Either we healty or not. SOmebody pays it all in his life after a very high payment high percent and he is never ill. Somebody works for very little payment, but he can enjoy this social insuarence for very complicated operations too. From 15th February this year we have to pay 300Ft=$1.5 each time we visit a doctor. (except children) I am very upset because of it, because I have to visit my doctor each month just to ask for a receipt to my daily medicine (I have asthma) So I must accept it. Also I go to gynaecology each month. So why I and my employer pays the social health service each month?? 1.5 years ago I had a terrible pain inmy arm. My doctor sent me to at least 5 different other doctors but noone could help me. each time I should have paid $1.5. The minimum payment here is 65000Ft= $325/month. But the minimum retirement pension is about $150 I am waiting for the election in 2010 :( I knew this goverment will s.ck us

You are very true Adi, this is too much for very regular treatment. We should not charged that much for general treatment. If all people can make a isue of it may be goverment will consider something about it. Medical can just take you to the road if you suffer from real bad something.

one thing i dont get is, why do they think that we all rich with money out of pocket? we dont we save whatever we got and when you get sick they charge you so high that all of you saving is gone. we all are people, why cant there be something that, it can help everyone and not cost alot, there is time that people are dying because they have no money and insurance, and the doctors dont even care if they are dying or not and that is very sad.

When my 18 month old needed stitches, we sat in the waiting room, then the exam room for over three hours. Then an incompetent doctor came in and did three stitches. Our cost - $900 for waiting. Now he is 5 1/2 and he had his tonsils out - I can't wait to see that bill.
