When do you overstep while helping a Friend??

Recently, I was talking to a friend, and found her outlook on life quite odd. It was quite disconcerting to say teh least. I tried to talk to her, had a lengthy talk or rather chat for about 4 hrs on the trot. result zilch, but in the end I felt as if I had overstepped, by questioning her belief and view of life and how it should be spent. Her rules were applicable only for herself. She never extended it to anyone. So did I really overstep? In fact, where should one actually draw line, trying to help a really good friend? When do you actually stop being helpful and actually become an Intruder in someone's life, someone close?? Can such a thing really sour up a beautiful relationship??Too many questions but I need your opinion. It's really important!!
