Why are you a MyLotter???

I've only been a MyLotter for a few weeks now, but have had a great time talking to people, discussing new ideas, and playing devils advocate in a few discussions. One thing that really surprises me though is the number of posts that ask questions like "why am I earning less"?, or "I wanna quit cause I spent all least week posting for a measly 50 cents!!!". Surely people can expect this to be a full time job? It got me thinking about what motivates me to use this site. It is not the money (yet...) It is simply to meet people and chat. The fact that I can earn money, too me is a bonus and a great incentive to use this site over others. So my questions to you all are, why are you a MyLotter? For money? To chat? If you live somewhere other then Europe / UK/ North America / Australia / NZ, what does $10 US buy in your country? Is this a factor why some many people work so hard at posting? Is it a way to improve your English? Or your typing skills? I look forward reading what you have to say...

Hi comedyaddict, I joined mylot just to see if I would really get paid for discussing things in a forum. Forums are pretty new to me so I am pretty much still feeling my way around and getting used to this way of things. I did not quite make payout amount this month but will have no problems for March. The money earned here is surely an incentive to stick around.

Forums, etc are fairly new to me as well, so maybe wanting to see if they actually paid was partly why I join. It still surprises me how many people seems to want to make this a job, or wonder why the post so many useless discussions that are going to be deleted anyways, and then complain about making nothing... Why don't these people learn that this is a forum site, that just happens to pay.. +

Not sure if you were asking Americans as well, but hear is my two cents worth :-) Well for me, I came here to see if it really paid. This was the first site I heard of that was doing this. So I came checked it out, got paid and thought cool. However, I am now a regular because of the conversations and the people. The money I make from Mylot pays for my internet costs. No matter how hard I work it won't really ever be much more than that. However when you see your total drop it feel as if you must have done something wrong and it can be upsetting. I think Mylot should send some message letting us know what was wrong. Many of us who know what a bad discussion is know not to post on them because they will get deleted along with our points. So it can't just be that, to cause the drop.

I suppose now that you mention it, wanting to see if I got paid was one possible reason I joined too, but I have a pretty good feeling that the site is legit. I haven't been paid yet, but I'm not too worried. Perhaps, because I make more fro my website this now is a cool way to talk to people. Thanks for the feedback.. Heres two cents.. ok, will a plus do?

I'm here for the money first. Then I'm here to learn new things. Then thrid I'm here for the friends and that is way down on the list. All the friends I have ever made on the net come and go. the longest I talked with someone was a few years then they vanish. What will $10 buy me int he US? Not much, but if I save it eventually it will earn me some decent money in a high yield savings acount. I have a goal. I only need $266,666.67 to earn $1000 a month in interest. Then I'd never have to work again.

LOL... sounds like a good idea... hows your saving going? Getting there? Anyways, I've found that if you put your online friends, discussions and learning first, then you actually make more money on here since they are responding to most of your discussion's :) Good luck with your plan!

I´m a meber of several forums, like FARK, SA, Penny-arcade, imagecomics, vgcats, conceptart.org and write a lot during the day. So I figured out, since i write so much, mught as well get paid for it. ;-) That and the community here is pretty good, even though Dormcheck pays better, I cant leave Mylot, nor spend 1/10th the time I spoend here there.

I'd probably be doing something similar elsewhere too, but the money here is a good incentive ;) I personally think the money is better here though, if you keep a conversation active you can almost earn a residual income from it... Dormcheck doesn't pay you any more for a popular, useful discussion then it does for a yes/no type question.. +

Hey, C.A. - I am with you. I am not on the mylot site thinking I am going to make money. I used to do Yahoo Answers and there is no pay involved - only points that don't get you anything. I enjoyed answering questions and that was the main reason for joining mylot. Now I have also found - unlike Yahoo Answers - the opportunity to make a few new friends, have some "on the side" conversations - and just enjoy what's out there. Works for me! :p

I love to type and this is a perfect opportunity. My typing has increased. I love the discussions and hearing what people respond to these discussions. Another thing I enjoy about this site you get to meet people from all over the world. There ideas I love to hear. So on the bottom of the totem pole is the fact that I can earn money here. But the other things are the priority.

Good answer :) the funny thing is, if more people put the friendships and learning and discussing things first, they'd actually earn more then just posting crap... Thanks!
