Since Christmas I've been sleeping on the couch EVERY NIGHT! His snoring is so bad I can't even be in the same room with him! And I can STILL hear him when I'm in the living room! He's also worried that he might have sleep apnea. He wakes up a number of times during the night! Hopefully the sleep study people will be able to figure out what is going on with him so we can BOTH get some better sleep!Anyone else ever had to go through this?!?

Your problem sounds all too familiar. My dad was the same way my whole life and one day it just got to be too much and he went in for sleep study. They diagnosed him with sleep apnea and he was put on a CPAP. His snoring continued and they performed two surgeries - one on his nose and one on his throat. For him surgery was vital, but in most cases it is not necessary. For instance, in my situation. I had been told most of my life that I snored like my dad, but that I would stop breathing in my sleep; not all the time, but as a grew older it happened nore often. My husband would sit up nights worried that I may not breathe. I ignored it for so long that I had adverse effects that I could no longer ignore. I was so tired and no matter what I did, I never felt rested. So I went in for 2 nights of sleep study last April. They said I had the worst case of sleep apnea they had ever seen. Which made me feel really special! *hint of sarcasm* I was fitted with a full face mask for a CPAP and my second night of sleep study was amazing. I actually slept through the night and woke up feeling refreshed. It has taken time getting adjusted to all of it and the CPAP makes a little noise, but my husband and I got used to it right away and I'm sure it pales in comparison to the awful snoring. I hope I've helped. Good luck with it all!

Can you tell me how that went for him? Jason has been having some trouble lately with that. He's always snored, but the past few nights, he's also had episodes where he would stop breathing for as much as 30 seconds at a time! Do you know if there are any recommendations to help this out? I was going to try the nose strip thingies, do you know if they work? Good luck to him!

He hasn't gotten his results back. :o( We we're supposed to know by this week, but no word. I'll let you know when I find out something though. He's tried the strips and the sprays, but it never helps him. It doesn't mean that it won't help Jason though. It's worth a shot!

I too had to go through a sleep study a couple years ago as I had difficulty sleeping and had some snoring issues as well and still do. They did not find anything wrong with me after my testing as I slept the entire time I was in the hospital. I was shocked that they told me that I was fine and that there was no problems with me. I hope that they were able to help your husband and hope you two are getting quality sleep now.

those are some signs of sleep apnea. my uncle has it and has to sleep in a mask every night. they will figure out what's wrong pretty quickly. when my uncle had a sleep study he knew the same week that he had sleep apnea. good luck.

My husband used to do the same thing. Even if I slept out in the living rooma nd the bedroom door was closed I could still hear him snore. We took him in for a sleep study to make sure he didn't have anything dangerous to his health going on like sleep apnea. Evrything in that area was fine and they said it was his nasal passages. He went to anear, nose and throat dr. who did a surgery that worked wonders. He went in and did something to kinda fix his nasal passages and he cut that little haning thing out of the back of his throat so that area would tighten up and he hasn't snored since he's had that done. That was back in 2002 and both of us are very happy he had it done because everybody sleeps better now.
