Since there is no cure for colds, what do you usually do to lessen your baby's discomfort?

When my son has a cold i normaly give him a bit of baby panadole. You can buy it from the chemist. No prescription required. That seemed to help my son. If your child is still not happy just take him/her to the doctor and they shuild be able to prescribe some antibiotix. Just to help get rid of the cold a little bit.

Have you ever considered Homeopathy? There are many different products you can use, and it is natural... or almost ;) I also give my son some drops, herbal products, that help reinforcing his immune system. Not sure if that works, but at least I give it a try. When he gets sick, mostly I try to stay with him of course, comfort him. I don't give him a bath because I think it cannot be nice for him to get cold when he actually has to leave the bath and is already sick. When he was smaller and we could not blow is nose as easy as now, I cleaned it with a kind of special vaccuum thing, not sure what it is called, after I sprayed a little bit of saline solution to lose it up and clean it. It is a 2 and a half minutes job, may be the baby is not so happy about it. But those 2 minutes will give him hours of relief... Well I hope I helped you somehow. What do you do to help your baby?

I'm not very familiar with herbal products but I would usually give her saline drops. My mother-in-law discourages me to use it..she says it may reach her brain. I dont actually believe her since i've read about saline drops and I know its safe. She prefers me to use decongestants.

If the air is dry in your house, run a humidifier or just put some pans of water out to evaporate, the moist air is easier to breathe. Vaporizers with medication in them (like Vicks' or something with menthol) help also but be sure to keep the baby away from the hot steam.
